A bit of history about the Picard family and ALIMENTATION J.A.P.

Alimentation J.A.P. was founded in the early 1970s by Jules Aimé Picard and his wife. Initially located in the couple’s own living room, it acted as a small neighbourhood corner store. Customers would order meat by phone for delivery which was then prepared at a grocery store owned by Jules Aimé’s father. The family-owned business soon became a beloved neighbourhood shop. In fact, it grew to be so popular that it quickly outgrew the living room. The business was therefore expanded for the first time over the course of 1972 and 1973. It didn’t take long for the owners to become renowned for their personalized service and warm welcome, garnering the attention of many new clients. Over the next few years, demand increased significantly. In 1981, Yolande and Jules purchased the adjacent lot to expand the store a second time. Around this time, the couple’s children started to become involved in the business alongside their parents. This in turn quickly led to the store offering more specialized products such as ready-made meals and baked goods. After Jules Aimé Picard passed away in 2016, his daughter Johanne Picard and her spouse Sylvain Desrochers took over the reins of the family business. Thanks to them, the original vision of the founders of Alimentation J.A.P. lives on even 50 years later. Today, Johanne and Sylvain continue to provide the same high-quality service, warm atmosphere, and attentiveness that clients have come to expect from the team at Alimentation J.A.P.
